Hand of Angel, Inc a 501 3 ( c ) has been helping parent of children with all disabilities for three year. We have provided summer Inclusion camp for all children , workshop conference and support for parents with children with special need . We are happy to add Lake County as one of Resource, Support and Information office. We welcome Heather Decker as part the Hands that help our Angels. Here my story on how Hand of Angels started My Terry West the CEO and Stacey Ricketts. Darien and his grandmother Terry have traveled a long road together. Terry is one of the principal partners of Hand of Angels, Inc. She partnered with Stacey to create a "Mom and Grandmom" organization in order to help others in their community who are living with the special needs of disabilities. Terry has been an advocate for all people living with disabilities for over 10 years and wanted to create a free service for children, their parents and adults to break down the artificial barriers and create an inclusive community for all. Stacey began her life long mission working with the special needs community in 1983 when she attended her first Special Olympics. She changed her major to Special Education the very next week and graduated with her Bachelors in 1986. Through-out the past 20+ years she has worked with individuals from the age of 8 months – 70 years of age that are living with the special needs of a disability. In 2004 Stacey also became a parent of a child with the special needs of a learning disability. She has now been on both sides of the table for the Exceptional Student Education process. This has given her a unique perspective to understand how difficult this process can become. Stacey, like Terry, is dedicated to making her community an inclusive environment where ALL people, regardless of their abilities, and can learn, play and grow together. She is currently working on her Master’s of Education to further this mission. “The Angels” are all children and adults that have special needs and work to overcome the barriers that life has given them. You can be “The Hand” who gives all people living with a disability the encouragement to overcome these barriers.
